SMS Sender ID Registration & Compliance

About the SMS Sender ID Register

From 1 July 2026, Australian regulations require branded SMS Sender IDs (for example, dealership brand names) to be registered with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

Unregistered Sender IDs may be labelled ā€œUnverifiedā€ or blocked by Australian telecommunications providers.

Contact Harald participates in the SMS Sender ID Register framework as an Electronic Messaging Service Provider (EMSP).

What is a Sender ID?

A Sender ID is the business name displayed at the top of an SMS message instead of a mobile number.

Examples:

  • ā€œABC Motorsā€

  • ā€œContactHaraldā€

Who needs to register?

Any organisation using branded SMS messages sent to Australian mobile numbers must register their Sender IDs before 1 July 2026.
